Hay There
My name is Liv Swanson, and I’ve been fortunate to spend most of my life learning from and working with horses. With over 20 years of experience in the equine industry, I focus on natural horsemanship techniques that prioritize understanding, trust, and the well-being of the horse. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your skills, I’m here to support both you and your horse as you grow together as a team.
My journey with horses began at the age of 4, riding my grandfather's 2 year old filly that was originally out of his own Mare. As we were clearly a good fit for each other, at 8 years old I officially purchased her as part of my 4-H project in Norwood, CO. She’s now 26 years old and still performing, a reminder of how meaningful and lasting the bond between horse and rider can be. By the time I was 14, I was training horses and helping beginners learn to ride, which inspired my dedication to sharing this passion with others.
Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of learning from incredible mentors, including Kirsten and Mary Sundquist, Joe Westcott, Peg Wood, Wendy Pole, Julie Goodnight, Steve Lantvit, Dominique Barbier, and Dawn Hoselton. Their guidance, combined with insights from natural horsemanship leaders like Parelli and Clint Anderson, shaped my approach to working with both horses and riders in a way that’s patient, effective, and centered on mutual respect.
Based in Wellington, CO, I work with clients across northern Colorado in areas such as Fort Collins, Windsor, Loveland, and Greeley. My services include colt starting, finishing, all-around retraining, and basic riding lessons in both English and Western styles. I also dedicate some time with rescue horses and those with behavioral challenges gain confidence and trust through tailored training.
Currently, I compete in Cowboy Mounted Shooting, but still enjoy working horses in barrels, ranch horse, and trail. Every horse and rider are unique, and my goal is to create a supportive environment where both can succeed, no matter where they’re starting.
I offer free consultations, full-time and part-time training options, exercise sessions, basic riding lessons, and trail rides. At Rockin’ Gyp Horsemanship, I feel grateful to be able to help others connect with their horses and find joy in the journey. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a consultation.
Wishing ya sunny skies and happy rides!
